Location:
- The start and finish is at at Paremata bridge, the course extends from Pauatahanui to Porirua to Plimmerton.

- Some checkpoints are in shallow water, some in deep water, some you will have to find on foot, some are in exposed and potentially rough water, most are in the enclosed harbour.
How it works:
- At registration on the day you will receive a map, a score card (both printed on waterproof paper) and a wooden skewer - like a big toothpick.
- Different checkpoints on the course are worth different point values, and there are more checkpoints than you will have time to visit during the event.
- You decide which checkpoints to visit and in which order. At each you answer a multi-choice question by punching a hole on your score card to prove that you have been there.
- You aim to hand your score card in at the finish before the cutoff time. You can finish late but points are deducted from your score each minute after the cutoff time.
